Is there an equivalent to chavs in Singapore? Whenever I mention chavs here, it's not a familiar phenomenon. But is it more familiar than we think?
For all those back in the UK who dismay at the existence of chavs, and for all those Singaporeans bemoaning Ah Beng/Lians let's see how they stack up against each other.
To do this let's draw some comparisons between the two.
Exhibit A: The Ah Beng...
Exhibit B: The chav...
Exhibit C: The Ah Lian....
Exhibit D: the Chavette...
Exhibit E: The Ah Beng ride...
and lastly Exhibit F: the Chav ride..
So apart from the lack of refinement, culture and the general anti-social behaviour and delinquency that is known to exist in both species, the exhibits demonstrate an underlying theme of bad taste and love for the gaudy and thus I conclude that Singapore does indeed have it's own species of chav!
Their breeding rate is probably far lower than the variety found in UK but yes, they are here too!
I reckon the bad pimping of the rides is just about on par but that the Chav and Chavettes are just about pipping the Ah Bengs and Ah Lians on the personal bad taste front. What say you?
