Happy Chinese New Year - Singapore style!

.
Singapore always knows how to put on a good show and Chinese New Year is no exception. So for my readers based out of Singapore, here's just a flavour for you.  Needless to say, it's probably why Stephen Fry decided to film CNY here for his travel programme this year!

So you know CNY is here when you see lots of these cherry blossom trees lining the streets symbolizing Spring is round the corner (although it's pretty much summer here all the time)...

And red lanterns symbolizing vitality and good luck...

And you hear and follow the beating of drums until it leads you to your nearest Lion dance  to bring good future and prosperity for the new year, and chase away evil spirits...

And a friendly dragon to bring you good luck, a long life and wisdom...

And you happen to chance upon a ridiculously over sized 500 dollar coin and golden bunny all of your own signalling my prosperity!

And of course no celebration in Singapore would be complete without a spectacular firework display at Marina Bay....

Gōng xǐ fā cái everyone!
